In 2017, Alicia Smokler was featured on Million Dollar Matchmaker, a reality TV show hosted by relationship expert Patti Stanger, who's goal is to help wealthy celebrity clients find love. Through Patti's advice, Alicia was selected out of several other girls by the millionaire to go on a one-on-one date.

Though it was a nice date and Alicia made a good friend out of the experience, it wasn't love, and so she's been on a journey of being single and dating after 30 ever since. She has so many dating stories and positive lessons learned from bad dating experiences that she has now set out to write a book for women in their 30's and 40's who are trying to find love.

Alicia also has a website, which includes a blog about her dating experiences, as well as dating tips and resources. She is working hard to create a safe community of women who are dating after 30. She is extremely relatable for anyone in their 30's who are single and dating: "I simply live life, pour a glass of wine nightly, and tell my story." -Alicia Smokler

On her Instagram, she says:

"There are hundreds of dating authors in the world, so I could have said to myself, does the world really need another dating book?

But, I didn't.

Why?

Because we are each different and the message I deliver will be something unique from me and that is my super power.

I have something to say that I know only I can say, so I'm writing. I'm writing early in the morning before my 9-5. I'm writing over the weekends instead of binging on Netflix. I'm writing as a I wait for my flights each work trip.

But I believe what I have to say is important to get out.

I can't wait to start sharing more with you of what I've been working on, but in the meantime, tell me - what is a message you want to share with the world?" -Alicia Smokler

Even though she's learned so much, she realized, in real-time during this podcast interview, some new lessons (hint hint, it has to do with the Gumball Love theory!).

In this episode, we cover:

  • That feeling of shame when your relationship doesn't work out and how to handle it more positively
  • Using dating apps
  • What it's like behind the scenes on a reality TV show like Million Dollar Matchmaker
  • Her takeaways from the experience and lessons she's learned in dating after 30
  • Alicia's personal experience with a Gumball Guy and Melissa's analysis of the relationship
  • Sneak-peak as to what Alicia's book is about
